The 2025 Manawatu Schools Individual Champs is open to all schools - Primary (Year 5 & 6), Intermediate and Secondary. The event will be held on the morning of Sunday the 18th of May on a farm inbetween Colyton and Ashurst.

It is expected that all entering competitive grades will have attended the 2025 Red Kiwi Orienteering Club “Have-a-go Training Day” and/or orienteered on a rural map on their own prior to this event.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch especially in relation to which course to enter.

Course

The Senior category is Years 12&13, Intermediate is Years 10&11, Junior is Year 9 and Primary is Years 5&6.
There are separate Grades for Boys and Girls.

The colour level is explained below. Please check with us FIRST if you are unsure which category to enter your child in.

WHITE - Basic navigation with a map, following tracks, fences & streams to control points.
YELLOW - Navigation involves following tracks, fences & streams, however control points are sited off the route being followed.
ORANGE - Cross-country navigation requiring basic knowledge of contours to locate controls.
RED - Difficult navigation requiring good knowledge of contours.
